| The
setting of the kitchen is overlooking the Chesapeake Bay
surrounded by woods. A wonderful place for the clients four
Golden Retrievers (shown in the detail in the center photograph)
to play. It is also an area that is brimming with all sorts
of wildlife. This sculpted mural brings all of that life
inside. What could be a dark color in other kitchens is
kept bright with all of the natural light streaming in the
windows opposite the stove area. The leaf border that makes
the cap tile in the front of the checkerboard counter is
also used to frame the stove and becomes the cove molding
on the top of the shelf on the left side. A tree "grows"
out of the shelf on the left and up into the hood area.
An architectural cornice and border finishes off the top
of the mural. |
