Fish Market

Complex underglazing transforms this three section countertop into a colorful fish market. This was a particularly fun project because the client was a wholesale fish distributer and was very concerned that the colors on the fish be very accurate. To help us get it right we were given the actual fish to look at while the glazing was being done. What a fish fry afterward. The color is coated with a clear glaze that allows the counter to be cleaned easily. Three dimensional crabs "crawl" out of the back of the counter to add a little touch of whimsey and reality.

Interesting items that continue the theme of the fish market are the glass bar that allows you to see the fish on display while the chalk board above the sink area lists the catch of the day. Other decorative accessories include the fish netting draped at the top of the cabinets and other items used on fishing boats on the shelf above the cabinets.
